21D Submissions

Submission Guidelines

Submissions must be the original work of the entrant and previously unpublished
Creators retain copyright of their work
Contributors can submit multiple entries
21D cannot pay for published submissions at this stage

Creators will be contacted if extensive editing of their work is required. In some cases, the publishers might ask the creator to edit the work before accepting it.

Chosen submissions will be published in 21D, a quarterly magazine available as an annual subscription by mail order (worldwide) and at selected bookshops nationally (Australia).

Submission Entry Sizes

Short Stories: 500 – 2000 words

Short Articles: 500 – 1000 words
Feature Articles: 1000 – 1500 words
Poetry: 10 – 50 lines
Photographs and Artwork: Up to 8 images per submission

Send text as MS Word files and images as a JPEG at low resolution – we’ll ask for high resolution later.

Terms and Conditions

21D will confirm receipt of all submissions by return email. Unsolicited contributions are welcome, but 21D is not obliged to publish any submission. Any request for submission does not imply a guarantee for publication. 21D may publish a submission in part or in its entirety at our discretion.

Please retain a copy of your work, as we are unable to return files once submitted.
